Dr. Frascino completed his postdoctoral
Clinical Immunology/Allergy Fellowship at the University
of California in San Francisco. Prior to this, he served
his internship and residency in Pediatrics at The Children's
Hospital of Northern California and obtained his medical
degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Robert J. Frascino served as Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, Division of Immunology, Rheumatology, and Allergy, at Stanford University Medical Center from 1983 until 2001 and is currently a member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine. A Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Frascino has served as a distinguished member of the executive boards of numerous state and regional associations, including Past President of the California Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Clinical Immunology, the Allergy/Immunology Association of Northern California, and the Allergy, Asthma, Immunology Foundation of Northern California. Dr. Frascino is presently a Trustee of Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music.
Dr. Frascino is the founder of
2 medical clinics devoted to the comprehensive and compassionate
care of people living with HIV. As primary investigator
in numerous HIV clinical trials, he has published articles
on evolving new treatments and quality of life issues
for people living with the virus.

In 1991, while performing a routine
medical procedure on a patient with HIV infection, Dr.
Frascino sustained a hollow-bore needle stick and laceration,
resulting in his seroconversion to HIV positive. He
retired from his medical practice in 1996 to concentrate
his efforts on AIDS awareness, fund-raising, and teaching.

partner Dr. Steven Natterstad, and San Francisco
Conservatory of Music Professor Dr. William Wellborn
have performed a series of concerts entitled A Concerted
Effort to benefit AIDS service organizations worldwide.
Their efforts to date have raised more than $1,000,000.
Drs. Frascino and Natterstad are the recipients
of the National Society of Fundraising Executives'
Distinguished Honoree/Silicon Valley Philanthropy
Award. In addition to raising funds and awareness
to combat the epidemic, Dr. Frascino, the recipient
of the Santa Clara County Medical Association's
Award for "Outstanding Contribution in Medical
Education," continues to teach and lecture
extensively on various topics related to HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Frascino also appears as an expert in 2 Forums
– Fatigue/Anemia and Safe Sex/HIV Prevention
– at The Body, an HIV/AIDS information resource
web site (www.thebody.com).
In 1999, Dr. Frascino and Dr. Natterstad established The Robert James Frascino Aids Foundation, a 501(c)(3) philanthropic
organization whose sole mission is to fund crucial services
for men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS |

and
to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic through advocacy
and education. In May of 2002, as part of the International
AIDS Candlelight Vigil in San Francisco, Dr. Frascino
accepted the 2002 Bobbi Campbell AIDS Hero Award for which
he received personal letters of acknowledgement and congratulations
from both Governor Gray Davis and Mayor Willie Brown.
The premier European medical journal, The Lancet, featured
Dr. Frascino in their May 2003 issue.
